First Big Girl Bath

Despite all the bad weather, Addison was very lucky and had some great visitors come to see her over the last couple of days. Aunt Danielle and Uncle Todd came first on Saturday and got to see Addison while she was out kangarooing with mom. Uncle Todd had not had the chance to see Addison yet and even though she is growing and putting on weight, he was still amazed at how "teeny tiny" our little Addison is. They brought up two wonderful hearts made by cousins; Logan and Zack, so they were pinned up by her isolet to keep her safe at night.

Addison had another wonderful cuddle with mommy and managed to stay out for 3 hours. Even though she is still hooked up to her ventilator, she only desatted on her oxygen a few times. Addison seems to love the cuddle time as much as mommy and daddy, we are not to sure who it is helping more, her or us!!! As we look back over Addison's pics it is obvious to us that she is definitely growing, however we can never forget to remind ourselves just how small and fragile this little fighter is. Just look at her little hands compared to this Twoonie that daddy found in his pocket. Pretty soon she will be taking that twoonie and much more money from daddy and there will not be any change left in his pockets to spare. Wink, wink.

The next visitor on the list was Mim who came to see her special granddaughter on Sunday. It was a great visit and Mim got to see little Addy out while she was having cuddle time with daddy. Though it is hard to see Addison with her SiPap ventilator unit on, Mim got right in there and had some little conversations with Addy while she was hanging out on daddy's chest. It was a great visit and Addy even got a hold of Mim's finger and would not let go for a few minutes. She honestly loves the bonding this little girl, with all of her family.

Addison continues to do very well on her feeds and is now up to 15 cc every two hours, without any problems digesting. (knock on wood) In fact she is on the move well before her two hours is up, squirming around to let the nurses know that she is ready for the next one. Addison not only seems to enjoy the milk via her feeding tube, the nurses have now started to put a dab in Addison's mouth and insert a soother to get her used to the feeding ritual and the movement of sucking. Yep our little girl has a suckie and has actually been caught using it even without a feed. Addison has increased her weight again coming in at 2lbs 6 oz or 1135 grams. Mom has been very successful in her milk production and has a great supply on hand for Addison to keep up the good work at eating, so much so the hospital has told mom to stop bringing in the milk as they have no more room for storage. Anyone got a spare freezer out there???? Ha ha, mom just told dad he would have to eat up all the frozen food a little more faster to make some room. Like that will be a problem.

On Monday mom and dad got a real treat and got to observe Addison's first big girl bath. Yep our little girl has graduated yet again from a sponge bath to a real bath tub. Addison did so well and mom and dad listened intently on the instructions, so that they can do the bath next time. Soo exciting. Addison was removed from her ventilator and was assisted only by two prongs in her nose puffing oxygen. She lasted for approximately 10 minutes before she let us know that she had enough and needed to get back into her isolet and back on her SiPap machine. She didn't actually seem to mind the bath to much and only let out a little cry when we had to remove the tape from her incision area from the surgery. It is so wonderful to see her to be able to do things that other little babies do. You go girl!! Of course dad was all over it and we have a little video clip to share with everyone. She is pretty darn cute so enjoy!!!
